Alan Irvines travels......
Alan was born in Glasgow and played for 5 clubs during his playing career, one of them being Everton. The others were Queens Park, Crystal Palace, Dundee United and Blackburn Rovers and now he is assistant manager to David Moyes at Everton. Irvine is delighted to have recieved the offer from Moyes to be his number 2.
"I'm delighted to be back, It's 18 years since i was last here so it's fabulous to be back. I always kept on looking out to see how Everton were doing and my family are Everton fans as well from my time here"
Irvine was all-set to join the England coaching set up after rejecting Newcastles latest contract offer but when he heard that Moyes was after him to be his number 2 his plans changed a little
"When i heard i had already decided to join the England coaching set-up because that looked like a terrific step as far as my career is concerned. But when this came through it threw all my plans up in the air"
"In actual fact Newcastle actually then came back and asked if i would stay here but in truth there wasn't an awful lot to think about. I know Everton well and i have always had fond memories of my time here".
Jimmy Lumsden's travels.....
Jimmy has been assistant manager of Leeds and Rochdale, then he moved on to a full managerial job at Bristol City, and then joined preston as first team coach. So Jimmy and David know how eachother work so it will hopefully be a good calibiration. But Lumsden has nothing but admiration for Moyes "David works tremendously hard and expects everybody else at the club to follow suit. He goes into every detail and if he makes a mistake I don't think you'll find him making the same mistake again".
Jimmy has been appointed first team coach here at everton.
